Puako, Hawaii

Puako (Hawaiian: Puakō) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaiʻi County, Hawaii, United States.

The epicenter of the 2006 Kiholo Bay earthquake was some 6 miles (10 km) offshore of the village.

[4] It is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by Waikoloa Village.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 71.56% White, 11.42% Asian, 4.43% Pacific Islander, and 12.59% from two or more races.

31.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
