Pukerimu is a rural locality southwest of Cambridge in the Waipa District and Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island.
[3] The area was densely populated and farmed by Māori before European settlement.
The Waikato River allowed movement to other parts of the country.
In 1864 as part of the Invasion of the Waikato, British forces landed at Pukerimu and built redoubts on each side of the river.
[3][4] Pukerimu School opened in 1876,[5] but moved west to Kaipaki in 1920.
[6] Pukerimu locality is in an SA1 statistical area which covers 6.63 km2 (2.56 sq mi).
Before the 2023 census, the statistical area had a larger boundary, covering 77.25 km2 (29.83 sq mi).
