[2] While in office as secretary, Ndamase had poor relations with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu), which in June 2014 demanded his suspension from the position.
[1] He also later said that he had extremely poor relations with Noxolo Kiviet, who replaced Fikile Xasa[3] as Speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014.
[1][4] The Daily Dispatch said that he was rumoured to be in line for another administrative appointment as head of the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
[9] Nehawu stringently opposed his appointment and demanded its reversal, claiming that Ndamase had been permanently tainted by the sex-for-jobs scandal.
[4] Ndamase was re-elected to his first full term in the provincial legislature in the 2019 general election, ranked 28th on the ANC's party list.
