Purty Rock is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States.

The CDP includes the unincorporated community of Defiance along a former alignment of U.S. Route 66.

Gallup, the McKinley county seat, is 9 miles (14 km) to the east.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Purty Rock CDP has an area of 1.17 square miles (3.03 km2), all land.
