[3] The fruit is an acorn with a cap between 1 and 2 centimetres (1⁄2 and 3⁄4 inch) wide and a spherical or egg-shaped, round-ended nut up to 2 cm (3⁄4 in) long.
[6] It is native to southwestern Oregon and far northern California in the Klamath Mountains.
