Quinchía

Quinchía, also known as Villa de los Cerros (Village of the Hills), is a town and municipality in the Department of Risaralda, Colombia.

[1] Around 1842, the decimated indigenous population, as a result of the violence against them by the Spaniards, decided to formalize the organization of the hamlet, creating Quinchía Viejo.

On November 29, 1886, the current municipality of Quinchía emerged, by the will of Messrs. Gabriel Vinasco, Zoilo Bermúdez, José Natalio and Protasio Gómez.

Quinchia was officialized on November 29, 1888, also On April 24, 1912 the town was declared a municipality.

Quinchía has a subtropical highland climate with an average annual temperature of 18 °C.
