Sándor Rózsa, the legendary Hungarian bandit was born here in 1813.
[1] The village was first mentioned in writing in 1439 under the name "Rezke", and was documented as belonging to Szeged.
[2] In the first half of the 19th century the village was composed of a collection small-scale tobacco farms.
This loose collection of homesteads later began to cultivate paprika as well, which continues to this day.
[4] A major road border crossing on Hungary's M5 motorway into Serbia is located 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the village.
