RMS Salsette

[2] In 1916–1917, during World War I, she temporarily replaced the torpedoed RMS Arabia on the Australian mail service.

[3] On 20 July 1917, Salsette embarked from London en route to Sydney via Alexandria, Aden, and Bombay.

[3] The wreck of Salsette lies on its port side at 45 degrees and a depth of 43 metres (141 ft) in Lyme Bay.

[3] The wreck has a large number of portholes that facilitate diving as well as the torpedo hole, which is on the starboard side amidships and near the boiler rooms.

[5] Divers have observed various types of marine life in the wreck, especially pouting, pollock and conger eels.
