Rana Ranbir was born on 31 December 1969 in Dhuri, Sangrur district, Punjab in India.

He was also the classmate of another famous Punjabi comedian Binnu Dhillon.

[citation needed] After completing a bachelor's degree from Desh Bhagat College Dhuri, he received a postgraduate degree in theater and television from Punjabi University, Patiala.
