Ray Newman (American football)

Ray Bowen Newman (August 11, 1922 – February 8, 2017) was an American football coach and scout.

Newman later worked as a scout for the New Orleans Saints and the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League (NFL) and the Edmonton Eskimons of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

He joined the staff at Bakersfield College in 1957 as an assistant coach in football and track.

[4][5] Newman succeeded Homer Beatty as head football coach at Bakersfield in 1959.
