Reliance Broadcasting Unlimited

Reliance Broadcasting Unlimited (RBU) is a Filipino media and telecommunications firm in the Philippines.

[1] An affiliate of telecommunications company Converge ICT, RBU used to be owned an FM station (DWDU) in Clark, Pampanga, and a regional/community channel in Central Luzon (PEP TV).

On July 29, 2012, the Congressional franchise of RBU was enacted into law as Republic Act 10178.

[citation needed] Republic Act 10178 grants RBU a franchise to construct, install, establish, operate and maintain for commercial purposes and in the public interest, radio and/ or television broadcasting stations in the Philippines, where frequencies and/or channels are still available for radio and/or television broadcasting, including digital radio and television system, through microwave, satellite or whatever means, including the use of any new technology that may hereafter or in the future developed in the field of radio and television broadcasting, with the corresponding technological auxiliaries and facilities, special broadcast and other program and distribution services and relay stations for 25 years.

[1] RBU began its operations in 2013 when the ownership of FM station DWDU in Clark, Pampanga was transferred from its previous owner Information Broadcast Unlimited.
