Reykjavík Botanic Garden (Latin: Hortus Botanicus Reykjavikensis, Icelandic: Grasagarður Reykjavíkur [ˈkraːsaˌkarðʏr ˈreiːcaˌviːkʏr̥]) is a botanical garden located in the district of Laugardalur in Reykjavík[1] that was established on August 18, 1961, on the 175th anniversary of the city.
[2] The garden currently conserves more than 5,000 plant species in eight plant collections[3] and offers prosperous birdlife, particularly grey geese.
[4] One of the many purposes of the institution is education, with guided tours being provided to the public and school groups annually visiting the park.
