Rhacel Salazar Parreñas (born February 13, 1971) is Doris Stevens Professor of Sociology and Gender and Sexuality Studies at Princeton University.
Parreñas received her Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies from University of California, Berkeley in 1992[citation needed].
She finished a Ph.D. in comparative ethnic studies with a designated emphasis in women, gender and sexuality from UC Berkeley in 1998[citation needed] .
Parreñas works on issues such as gender, migration, and globalization, particularly the international division of reproductive labor, also known as the care chain.
[4] In 2003, Parreñas received an honorable mention in the Social Science Book Prize Category from the Association for Asian American Studies for Servants of Globalization.
