Richard Sammel (born 13 October 1960)[1] is a German actor.

He is best known to United States audiences for his role as Thomas Eichhorst in The Strain (2014–2017).

[2] Sammel was born in Heidelberg, Germany,[1] and speaks five languages: his native German, and English, French, Italian, and Spanish, all of which he is fluent in ('fairly fluent' in Spanish).

[2][3] In 2015, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor on Television at the 41st Saturn Awards,[4] for his role as Thomas Eichhorst in Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan created Vampire horror FX television series The Strain (2014–2017).
