Riverton, Iowa

Riverton is a city in Fremont County, Iowa, United States, along the East Nishnabotna River.

[4] The land on which the town was platted originally belonged to Coleman and Grazilla (Zimmerman) Smith.

The 1881 robbery of the Sexton Bank at Riverton was initially suspected to be the work of Jesse James, but it was soon correctly attributed to the outlaw Poke Wells.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.59 square miles (1.53 km2), all land.
