Robert Falla

Sir Robert Alexander Falla KBE CMG (21 July 1901 – 23 February 1979) was a New Zealand museum administrator and ornithologist.

At his primary school in Invercargill, he developed an interest in natural history due to the influence of Alfred Philpott.

[1] He was assistant zoologist with the British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE) under Sir Douglas Mawson 1929–1931.

[3] Although he was not listed an official member, Falla participated for a brief time in the 1949 New Zealand American Fiordland Expedition.

[12] In the 1973 New Year Honours, Falla was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, for services to conservation.
