Rock Island was a census-designated place (CDP) in Broward County, Florida, United States.
[3] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.6 km2 (0.62 sq mi), all land.
As of the 2000 census,[1] there were 3,076 people, 961 households, and 750 families residing in the CDP.
The racial makeup of the CDP was 1.69% White (1.3% were Non-Hispanic White,)[4] 96.52% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races.
19.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
