Rolf-Peter Horstmann (born December 5, 1940 in Wernigerode) is a German Emeritus professor of Philosophy.
His fields of activity are primarily Ontology and Epistemology, as well as the philosophy of Kant and German idealism, especially Hegel.
[3] In 1979–80 he held a lectureship at the University of Marburg and in 1980–81 a substitute professorship in Göttingen.
Bielefeld University appointed him associate professor of philosophy in 1983.
During 1996–1998 and 2002–2004 he was managing director of the Instituts für Philosophie in Humboldt.
