In the mid to late-1980s, the team was led by future Hall of Famers Ecaterina Szabo and Daniela Silivaș.
The team featured three Hall of Famers during that decade: Lavinia Miloșovici, Gina Gogean, and Simona Amânar.
At the Olympic Games, Romania has competed in the women's artistic gymnastics team competition 15 times.
