Rossiter is a Census-designated place (CDP) in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States.
[2] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km2), all land.
Rossiter was formed in 1901 as a coal mining town, and was originally named after William Rossiter, nominally the chief stockholder of the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Corporation and the treasurer of the parent New York Central Railroad, which built a branch from Punxsutawney into the town.
There were 282 housing units at an average density of 151.4 per square mile (58.5/km2).
27.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
