Rotvoll

Rotvoll[2] is a neighbourhood in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway.

It is located next to the Trondheimsfjord between Leangen to the west and Grillstad to the east.

The area is known for its rich bird life and has several times been proposed for protection.

When a Statoil research and development facility was built there in the 1991, it resulted in civil disobedience at the climax of the Rotvoll controversy.

The area has some suburban housing and is otherwise dominated by the Statoil research facility and Sør-Trøndelag University College campus for teacher training and Norwegian Sign Language interpreters.
