Ruiz also wrote an essay covering stereotypes and eating disorders called "Ghost of Gordolfo Gelatino," which was published in the book Going Hungry.
Reviewed as "vivid" and "palpable," the magical realism satire was highly critical of President Trump's border and immigration policies.
