Russia, New York

Russia is a town in Herkimer County, New York, United States.

[4][5] The town is located in the northwestern part of the county and is northeast of Utica.

[1]: 237  As of 1875, the main "industrial pursuits" of Russia were cheesemaking and buttermaking, while the primary farm products (besides flint corn, buckwheat etc) were maple sugar, apples, potatoes, and oats.

Hinckley Reservoir, an impoundment on West Canada Creek, crosses the north-central part of the town.

West Canada Creek forms the western boundary of the town (the border with Oneida County, south of the reservoir.

23.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
