Rokurō Tachiki, a young boy moves with his father to the Sōbōtei mansion, a mysterious place stood in Tokyo's Numanakarai district since the Taishō era and it is said to be haunted.

There he meets Tsutomu Takoha, a poor picture book author who lives in a cheap apartment next to the mansion.

The Self-Defense Force evacuated the Numanakari district in a failed attempt to destroy the Sōbōtei mansion.

Sōbōtei Kowasubeshi, written and illustrated by Kazuhiro Fujita, was announced in November 2015.
