Established on 14 November 1990, SBS is the largest private broadcaster in South Korea, and is owned by the Taeyoung Construction.
This was also seen as a counterweight to the start of NHK BS1, which was received in Korea, and was seen as controversial by pundits over trauma from the Japanese occupation in the first half of the century.
