Sabae, Fukui

Sabae (鯖江市, Sabae-shi) is a city located in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

Sabae has a Humid climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm, wet summers and cold winters with heavy snowfall.

[2] Per Japanese census data,[3] the population of Sabae has grown steadily over the past 50 years.

Following the Meiji restoration, it was organised into part of Imadate District in Fukui Prefecture.

JR West surrendered ownership of the Hokuriku Main Line in Sabae to third-sector company Hapi-line Fukui on 16 March 2024.
