Born in McComb, Mississippi,[1] McCullum moved with his family to Montana in 1967, and was raised in Kalispell.
[2] He then attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where he played football for the Bobcats from 1970–1973, and set a record of 16 career touchdown catches.
[2] He played wide receiver for ten seasons for the Vikings and expansion Seattle Seahawks from 1974 through 1983.
