[2][3] Sangita Kumari was born in the village of Karangaguri Nawatoli in Simdega district in state of Jharkhand to Ranjit Majhi and Lakhmani Devi.

Her first appearance was during season three of the FIH Pro League, in India's homes matches against Spain.
