Located in the same place, Sanuki Station is the terminus of the Kantō Railway Ryūgasaki Line, and is 4.5 kilometers from the opposing terminus of the line, Ryūgasaki Station.
The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987.
The city of Ryūgasaki requested the name change and fully bore the cost of 410 million yen.
[4] However, the Kantō Railway chose to keep the original name of the station.
Stations served only by the Chiyoda Line through service local trains between Kita-Senju and Abiko are omitted.
