Schönengrund is a municipality in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.

Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (97.8%), with Serbo-Croatian being second most common ( 0.9%) and Spanish being third ( 0.4%).
