In his fourth match with the club, on 29 April 1979, he scored against Barcelona at Camp Nou, putting one past Pedro Artola albeit during a 2–1 defeat.

Even further, he suffered a grave injury during a match against Las Palmas on 10 November 1981, tearing his MCL in his left knee.
