It is one of the churches for the Horten parish which is part of the Nord-Jarlsberg prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg.
The red brick church was built in a long church design in 1972 using plans drawn up by the architect Elisabet Fidjestøl.
In the 1920s, discussions began about building another church for the town.
The church is owned by Stiftelsen Sentrumskirken and is run by a board.
A nursery is run on the lower floor (with its own entrance).
