Serbs of Slovakia

Overseas There is a small number of Serbs in Slovakia, mostly located in the southern town of Komárno, where they have been living since the 17th century.

The number of Slovaks of Serb descent is hard to determine but nevertheless they are recognized as an official minority.

Already in the 19th century, the importance of the university in Požun began to attract a different layer of Serbs, the Serbian youth who studied there in the absence of Serbian higher education institutions in what was then southern Hungary.

Its "Library of Serbian Youth" was founded in 1841, and its destiny is tied to the Lyceum of Požun.
