Holocentrus tigrinus Bloch, 1790 Serranus tigrinus, the harlequin bass, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a sea bass from the subfamily Serraninae, which is a part of the family Serranidae, which also includes the groupers and the anthias.
Serranus tigrinus has a laterally compressed elongate body with a pointed snout which is shorter than the diameter of the eye.
