Sesto Calende (Lombard: Sest) is a town and comune, with around 11,019[3] inhabitants, located in the province of Varese, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy.
It is at the southern tip of Lake Maggiore, where the river Ticino starts to flow towards the Po.
The main historical sight is the Abbey of San Donato, built in the 9th and 10th centuries.
The area is also home to different species of swans, grebes], coots, and mallards.
Beyond the water, hilly terrain with forests and meadows provides a balanced landscape, merging urban and industrial areas with nature and agricultural land.
