Shackles of Gold is a 1922 American silent drama film directed by Herbert Brenon and starring William Farnum, Alfred Loring, and Marie Shotwell.

It is an adaptation of the 1908 play Samson by Henri Bernstein with the setting moved from France to America.

As described in a film magazine,[2] John Gibbs (Farnum) is a dock laborer but rises to wealth by speculation in the oil market.

He marries Marie (Bonillas), the daughter of Charles Van Dusen (Loring), but she consented to the marriage solely because the family fortune was depleted and to maintain their social standing.
