Shadegan (Persian: شادگان)[a] is a city in the Central District of Shadegan County, Khuzestan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.
[5] The city is located on the Jarahi River, which empties into the adjacent Shadegan International Wetlands.
[6] At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 48,642 in 8,600 households.
