James Earl "Shag" Goolsby (July 24, 1917 – May 7, 1975) was an American football center.
He attended Stephen D. Lee High School in Columbus and then enrolled at Mississippi State University.
He played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team from 1937 to 1939.
[1] He was selected by the Cleveland Rams in the 12th round (105th overall pick) of the 1940 NFL draft.
[1][2] After retiring from football, he returned to Mississippi and worked as a coach and teacher in Winona and Gulport.
