It was established as a co-educational institute in 1967 named after Bhagat Singh.

The college has arrangements for various sports and games like cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, kho-kho, athletics, gymnastics, carrom and chess.

At the undergraduate level, it offers three-year degrees as below mentioned courses.
