Shark River Hills is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) within Neptune Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.
It is bordered to the northeast by Neptune City, to the southeast by Belmar, and to the southwest by Wall Township.
The community sits on a wide peninsula that is bordered to the east and south by the Shark River estuary.
[1] The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
[12] The 2010 United States census counted 3,697 people, 1,511 households, and 1,065 families in the CDP.
Of all households, 22.3% were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
[14] As of the 2000 United States Census[6] there were 3,878 people, 1,509 households, and 1,106 families living in the CDP.
