She is the author of "Threat Multiplier: Climate, Military Leadership and the Fight for Global Security", published by Island Press in 2024.

Jared P. Scott's 2016 film The Age of Consequences, in which Goodman is featured, is based on the work of the CNA Military Advisory Board.

[2] As the chief environmental, safety, and occupational health officer for the Department of Defense (DoD), she oversaw an annual budget of more than $5 billion.

She developed and led the Arctic Military Environmental Cooperation Program, which removed hazardous liquid waste streams from decommissioned Russian nuclear submarines in the 1990s.

She is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, served on its Arctic Task Force in 2016 and on the Board of its Center for Preventative Action.

Goodman has testified before numerous committees of the U.S. Congress, and conducted interviews published in major print, television, radio and online media.
