Shorea obtusa, the Siamese sal,[3] is a species of hardwood tree in the family Dipterocarpaceae, native to Southeast Asia.
Shorea obtusa is native to Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
[4] Shorea obtusa is a deciduous tropical tree, growing 10–30 m (30–100 ft) tall.
The resin, from the trunk, is used to make torches, while the bark is part of a malaria remedy.
The tree is the most preferred source of firewood in some areas of Kompong Chhnang Province, Cambodia.
