Shuilin

According to rumors, the imperial ministers of the late Ming Dynasty came to Taiwan from the east, and a large number of Gaoshan people already live in the township and are scattered in various places to farm.

During the Qing Dynasty in the 22nd year of Kangxi's reign, more immigrants from Zhang and Quan in Fujian came here to cultivate land and formed a settlement.

In the fourteenth year of Guangxu's reign, Yunlin County was newly established and the township was immediately placed under its jurisdiction.

In the 32nd year of Guangxu's reign, the Treaty of Shimonoseki was signed during the Sino-Japanese War, and Taiwan was ceded to Japan.

The township comprises 24 villages: Chunpu, Dagou, Dashan, Fanshu, Haipu, Houliao, Jianshan, Jiupu, Jugang, Shanjiao, Shuibei, Shuinan, Shunxing, Songbei, Songxi, Songzhong, Suqin, Tucuo, Wende, Wantung, Wanxi, Wanxing, Xijing and Xiqi.
