It is part of the Danville, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.
In 1888, the town had three main industries aside from farming: tiles, bricks and ice.
[3] According to the 2010 census, Sidell has a total area of 0.93 square miles (2.41 km2), all land.
[4] At the time of the 2000 census,[6] there were 626 people, 237 households and 182 families residing in the village.
19.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
