John Adams (educationist)

He was educated at St David's School and Old Wynd School before entering the Glasgow Free Church Training College and the University of Glasgow (1875), where he studied for six years.

He was also rector of the Free Church Training College, firstly in Aberdeen (1890) and then in Glasgow (1898).

[4] Initially the LDTC only provided teacher training courses lasting between 1 and 3 years.

From 1909 to 1923 Hoyle was the first Professor of Education there, after which he moved to America, where he lectured at the University of California until his death in 1934.

[7] Under the pseudonym of Skelton Kuppord, he wrote two school stories for young readers: Hammond's Hard Lines (1894) and The Rickerton Medal (1896).
