Sir John William Lubbock, 3rd Baronet, FRS (26 March 1803 – 21 June 1865), was an English banker, barrister, mathematician and astronomer.
He largely rebuilt the family home of High Elms,[4] near Downe village in Kent.
[5] When word reached Sir John William Lubbock, he went home and hinted at a great piece of news without immediately disclosing what it was.
[1] Their eldest son John was a scientist and banker, later ennobled as Baron Avebury.
Their youngest child, Edgar, won the FA Cup with Wanderers in 1872 and with Old Etonians in 1879.
