Smithland, Iowa

Smithland is a city in Woodbury County, Iowa, United States.

[3] In 1857, clashes between settlers and Native Americans began at what is now Smithland which would afterward culminate in the Spirit Lake Massacre.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.37 square miles (0.96 km2), all land.
