Social Democrats (Italy)

[5] In mid-November 2011, 28 members out of 31 of the outgoing National Council, including Magistro, left the PSDI in order to form iSD.

[12] The party, which initially wanted to contest the 2022 Italian general election in a centre-left coalition enlarged to include the centrist parties, favours the autonomy of the regional sections and aims to promote a new Socialist Constituent.

In the run-up to the 2022 general election, the party joined forces with Italia Viva and Carlo Calenda's Action, aiming to represent the left-wing of the Third Pole.

[13] In the imminence of the 2024 European Parliament election, the orientation of the previous consultation is confirmed and the party joins the "United States of Europe" electoral list.

As a supporter of internationalism and pro-Europeanism, the party is committed to maintaining Italy in the geopolitical cadre of advanced liberal democracies.
