Soknedal Church

It is the church for the Soknedal parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros.

The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1933 using plans drawn up by the architect John Egil Tverdahl.

Local tradition says it was located along the east side of the old "King's Road" through the Hovmoen area, about 500 metres (1,600 ft) north of the current church, although this site has not been confirmed.

This building was a timber-framed long church that was located about 120 metres (390 ft) southwest of the old church site on the west side of the road, near Presthus.

[4] In 1861, it was decided to build a new church when the old one was too small and the roof was also in very poor condition.
