South Haven is a census-designated place in Portage Township, Porter County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.2 km2), all land.

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 5,619 people, 1,906 households, and 1,538 families residing in the CDP.

There were 1,956 housing units at an average density of 1,571.8 per square mile (606.9/km2).

15.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The county is also responsible for street repairs and snow removal.
